"Otto von Habsburg's Birthday — A Cause for Celebrating the Enlargement of the European Union The focus of the celebration of Otto von Habsburg's 90th birthday on November 20, 2002 was the forthcoming enlargement of the European Union. After attending Catholic Mass in St. Stephan's Cathedral, a ceremony was held in the Hofburg which included heads of state, members of national parliaments and other prominent guests.The ceremony was particularly an event with a clear message: "we want the enlargement of the European Union." These were the words of Walburga Douglas, youngest daughter of Otto von Habsburg and Secretary General to the Pan-European Union.
